In our increasingly digital world, tech advances affect every aspect of our lives, including our human rights. New technologies can speed up decision making, foster equality and enhance inclusion. But they can also undermine human rights and result in discrimination. This panel will explore how to best address algorithmic biases, improve accessibility for underserved groups, and devise strategies to leverage digitalisation for creating a fairer, more inclusive world.

Juliane von Reppert-Bismarck is Executive Director and Founder of Lie Detectors, a news literacy organisation. She has advised governments, policymakers and the EU on countering disinformation and polarisation, including within the EU’s 2018 High-Level Expert Group on Fake News. She co-wrote EU recommendations as part of the 2022 Digital Literacy Expert Group.

Katharina von Schnurbein is the European Commission’s Coordinator on combating antisemitism. Her focus is on preventing and combating racism, intolerance and discrimination. She collaborates closely with Jewish communities and organisations. In her work, she liaises with EU Member States, EU institutions, civil society and academia.
