He is an Emeritus Professor of International Law and Human Rights at the University of Nottingham, and a barrister and mediator at Brick Court Chambers. Matteo Mecacci is Director of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). He was previously President of the International Campaign for Tibet. He also headed the OSCE/ODIHR Election Observation Mission to Georgia in 2013. He was a Member of the Italian Parliament, Foreign Affairs Committee, and the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.
